Studio Closing & Moving!

You may have read about it on Instagram or Facebook, and I’m super excited to share it here as well! Big news for Nicole Ferris Photography – we are CLOSING!!! And…..we are MOVING!!!

This year has been such a crazy year for me and has far surpassed my expectations. I have won numerous awards and had my images published by a few magazines. I’ve worked with several wonderful families to capture and preserve their memories, and I’ve been so blessed with every connection I’ve made! So really, I owe a HUGE thanks to all of my amazing clients! You really are the BEST!

All of these amazing connections has meant I’ve been SUPER busy. I’m sure many of you have noticed that I’ve been swamped this summer, and the busy-ness won’t slow down a bit until probably February. Starting in September I will be teaching photography classes at Idaho State University. There are two classes I will be offering throughout the Fall semester; Fine Art Photography and Photography Business Bootcamp. Each class will be 2-3 hours long, two days per week, and run for four weeks long. Please contact ISU for more information on these classes and how you can sign up!

The other SUPER exciting news is that I am going to be opening up a studio space in Dallas, Texas in 2019. Things are finally coming together in a way that is perfect, and I couldn’t be more excited! Since opening my studio space in 2015 I have had always had the plan to move out of Pocatello to grow and expand. I feel that I do not have the same opportunities here in Idaho that I would have in a large metropolitan area such as Dallas.

Since my youngest daughter is starting Kindergarten and my oldest is starting Second grade this year, I plan to close my Pocatello studio at the end of August in order to focus on my family and move to Texas. I will be hosting a studio destash in the coming weeks to empty out items I don't wish to pack up and ship with me so keep your eyes peeled for some amazing deals!

The new studio space will have a lot more room for just about everything, which will be wonderful! I’m looking forward to having more room for shooting during newborn and family sessions, and having a great space for added variety for senior and boudoir shoots. There will be space for consultations and ordering appointments as well, just as my current studio space offers. The studio will be usable for both natural light portraits, and also studio light portraits. Having that versatility is something that will be incredibly beneficial for my clients. It’s going to be AWESOME!

Currently, I am a bit limited with my studio light set up and can only photograph very small groups or solo sessions such as newborns or head shots, and even then, it has been quite cramped. The new space will have tons of natural light, which will be wonderful for busy toddlers or large groups! And there will be plenty of room for studio lighting on cloudy days and a more consistent look during newborn sessions.

Shifting into the new space will happen sometime next year once a few projects are completed. I plan to have a grand opening and open house once everything is ready, and I can’t wait for you all to see it! I hope you all will love it as much as I do!

So….there’s a LOT going on!!! For now, I’m going to hold off on showing any photos since I want to respect the current tenants in the space, but as soon as things move forward, I will definitely share more!

And since no blog post is good without photos, here’s a birth announcement I created from a newborn session I did recently!
