Hey, I'm Nicole Ferris!
Mom of two, world-traveler, artist, and profitable photographer since 2014.

I got my first DSLR camera in 2010. My confidence was high. My motivation was high. I was shooting everyone I could and I was feeling pretty good.

Then in 2011 my first child was born, and my camera took the back seat.

Fast forward to 2013 and we just had our second baby. My husband and I sat down to discuss our finances and discovered that we needed to make some changes.

He decided to leave his job of 7 years to attend college, while I started to question myself. I was taking a good look at myself and deciding what I needed to do for our future.
​
I wanted to make photography my career. I wanted to start a real business, but the biggest question I kept asking myself was: How do I make this work?
​
Suddenly I had this massive mountain in front of me that I had to climb. I didn't know where to start, how to start, or what to do. I just kept taking free or discounted work to gain experience.

I was staying up late every night editing. My husband and kids hardly got to see me anymore. I was swimming in muck. Stuck where I was and slowly sinking.
​
I knew if I ever wanted to see my kids again I had to find a way out of the mess and clean myself off in order to give my husband a fair chance at college.
​
So, through the beginning of 2014 I sat in seats a lot like yours. I took courses. I hired mentors. I bought business books on marketing and sales. I invested in my education.

All of my hard work and dedication finally paid off when my business took off in the Fall of 2014, which was when I officially relaunched my studio and signed my first commercial lease.

It’s true: Having an audience is essential for booking clients.
